Assisted Opening Knives From Sog, Gerber, CRKT and Kershaw

Assisted Opening Knives

We offer a large selection of Assisted Opening Knives from top knife manufactures such as Buck, SOG, Gerber, CRKT, Kershaw and Spyderco.
If you know which brand of
Assisted Opening Knife you are looking for you can go directly to that manufacture by choosing it in the drop down menu.
An assisted opening knife is not a switchblade or automatic knife; instead the user must first open the blade manually 10 to 30 degrees (depending on the knife manufacture) by using a thumb stud or some other means. After the blade has started to open, a system of springs or torsion bars (again depending on the knife manufacture) takes over and propels the blade to its fully open position. Once the blade is fully open it is lock in the open position by a locking system.

Assisted Opening By Brand

CRKT Assisted opening Knives

CRKT assisted opening knives use the OutBurst one handed opening system . The blade is kept in the closed position with a torsion bar and a cam that provides pressure to keep it in that position. When the blade is pushed forward 20 to 30 degrees by using the thumb stud, this overcomes the closing force and the blade is propelled open

Kershaw Assisted opening Knives

Kershaw assisted opening knives use SpeedSafe. This also works with a  torsion bar applying pressure to keep the knife blade closed so it cannot be accidently opened. When the blade has been started to open manually, the speedsafe system takes over and the blade if fully opened and held in the open position by a locking system.

SOG Assisted opening Knives

SOG assisted opening knives use  S.A.T. It works with right handed and left hand people equally well . This system uses a balance of opposing high-tension coil springs that holds the blade in the closed position. When the closing force is overcome by the blade being started to open by the user manually, the opening force takes over and the blade is opened fully.

Buck Assisted opening Knives

Buck's ASAP  has a two-stage safety blade  releasing system, first the safety release on the top of the handle must be disengaged  and then the blade release ridge must be pushed to start the knife opening . Once fully opened the blade is held in the open position with a liner lock.

Gerber Assisted opening Knives

Gerber F.A.S.T. was designed for Gerber by knife maker Butch Vallotton. The letters stand for Forward Action Spring Technology and like all the other knives on this page is not considered a switchblade or fully automatic knife as the user must start the knife opening process by first manually starting the knife blade open before the spring action takes over.
Assisted opening knives are usually legal in most States, however, a purchaser should cheek the local, State and Federal  laws governing the ownership and use of this type of knife before buying as the Laws can be quite complex.
