Here is a bit of background on a few knife brands we carry.
Spyderco Knives
Spyderco Knives, Inc. was established in the late 1970s. Since then, Spyderco has been well known for its folding knives, although Spyderco also produces fixed-blade. Spyderco products are distinguishable by the round hole in the blade, which allows easy one-handed opening. Spyderco also place a pocket clip on all their products. Spyderco products come with plain, partially serrated, or fully serrated blades, all of which are available in a variety of steels. Spyderco also produces tactical and survival knives.
CRKT Knives
Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) was established in 1994. CRKT took off with the CRKT K.I.S.S. (Keep It Super Simple) knife, which is still very popular. CRKT produces both folding and fixed-blades, as well as multi tools and accessories. CRKT has a wide knife selection, ranging from Every Day Carry (EDC) and pocket to hunting and survival knives. CRKT often works with specialty makers to improve its products.
SOG Knives
The original SOG knife was used for the Studies and Observation Group (SOG), a U.S. special operations organization active during the Vietnam War (1955–1975). This SOG knife was intended for combat use. In addition to combat knives, SOG knife varieties today include survival and hunting. SOG knives can be folded, assisted opening, or fixed-blade. SOG also offers products with tanto blades, which are mainly used for tactical purposes.
Buck Knives
Buck Knives has been in the knife manufacturing business since 1902. Although Buck Knives produces a variety of products, ranging from everyday to survival, Buck Knives are most famous for their field and sport knives. Buck created and popularized the first folded hunting knife. This knife became so prevalent that many call any folded lock-blade knife a “buck knife” today, whether or not Buck manufacturers made it. Buck Knives is also famous for its survival knife named the Buckmaster. This survival tool has storage space in its handle and was followed by the survival knife named the M9 Bayonet.
